València City Council and the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) have joined forces with the aim of making València one of the 100 climate-neutral European cities by 2030. The Chair of New Green Transition at the UPV, specifically its director, Dionisio Ortiz, attended the event in which Joan Ribó, the mayor of Valencia and José E. Capilla, the rector of the UPV, signed the protocol València, climate neutral city by 2030 in the Saló de la Xemeneia of the City Hall of Valencia.
Decarbonisation is one of the challenges in tackling climate change, as it consists of eliminating carbon from electricity production in order to rely on alternative clean energies. With this goal in mind, the Vera campus will become a laboratory in which to discover more about decarbonisation and to offer practical solutions in the city. It will also offer scientific advice and promote teaching and research projects. The Chair will actively participate in the project.
