Turisme has granted the ‘Sustainability S’ seal to 36 tourist entities in the Valencian Community at Fitur, the International Tourism Fair in Madrid that took place from January 24 to 28. Consellera Nuria Montes highlighted the commitment of the Consell to sustainability and mentioned initiatives such as the ‘Sustainability S’ Pilot Program, aimed at assisting businesses in obtaining this distinction in line with the technical specifications of the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality (ICTE).
During the certification award ceremony, Nuria Montes emphasized the Valencian Government’s ambition to promote sustainable practices in the tourism sector. With a total of 313 ‘Sustainability S’ certificates nationwide, the Valencian Community has positioned itself as a leader with 100 certificates. Montes underscored the need to demonstrate that the region is an open and dynamic destination where sustainability is not only a value but also a fundamental reality.
This recognition not only highlights the individual achievements of the awarded entities but also reinforces the position of the Valencian Community as a national benchmark in sustainable tourism. The focus on achieving at least three Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) out of the 17 set by the UN supports the long-term vision of the Valencian Government to mitigate the impact of tourism and promote a more sustainable model.
