The congress The fight against climate change and the recognition of the rights of nature: Synergies of Mediterranean cooperation, organized by the Democracy+ Research Group of the University of Valencia together with other entities such as the Interuniversity Chair of New Green Transition, will bring together experts on climate change and on the measures that must be taken by public authorities to face it. The event will take place at the UV Faculty of Law on June 29 and 30, 2022, and emphasis will be placed on diagnosis and solutions from Law, Economics, and social sciences in general. It will focus on how Mediterranean cooperation should combat climate change, and on the concept of “rights of nature” applied to the Mediterranean.

At a time when climate change is a global problem, it is necessary to find new legal channels to strengthen the fight for the sustainability of the earth, especially the Mediterranean. The recognition of the rights of nature by various legal systems, in addition to the implementation of the Harmony with Nature program of the United Nations, make the Earth jurisprudence one of the most powerful tools with which we count for the fight for a green world.

The congress will be face-to-face and will be broadcast via streaming. The presentations and communications will be published in a volume as proceedings of the congress.
