Through the Jaume I University, the Chair of New Green Transition has just created some awards for Videogame Development for the Ecological Transition, in an iniciative aimed at undergraduate or Master’s students from the 5 Valencian public universities in the 2020-2021 academic year. The call for the Chair, which has the collaboration of the Living Lab Planeta Debug of the UJI, allows individual or group participation and is addressed to promote awareness and social action in the field of climate change. The prizes are endowed with 500, 300 and 200 euros, and applications may be submitted through the UJI’s electronic headquarters before April 30, 2021.

The main objective of the Chair is to carry out research, teaching and dissemination activities on strategies and public policies in matters of just ecological transition and the fight against climate change within the framework of sustainable habitat. Regarding the call, the starting point is the conviction that video games have great potential as a tool that recreates a collaborative world where success benefits from the development of skills, naturally creating the need to learn on the part of the player, favoring changes in behavior and the generation of citizen awareness in the face of the challenges of the green transition. In this sense, the contest aims to promote the development of video games that aim to promote knowledge of the problems associated with the green transition and the fight against climate change within a framework of sustainability, as well as promoting awareness and behavior changes of citizenship within the framework of the construction of a sustainable habitat.

Promoted by the Second Vice-Presidency and the Department of Housing and Bioclimatic Architecture of the Generalitat Valenciana, the Chair has the participation of the 5 Valencian public universities.
