The director of the Interuniversity Chair of New Green Transition at the University of Valencia, Aurora Pedro, was invited by the Autonomous University of Chiapas (UNACH) in Mexico to participate in a ‘Conversatorio’, a discussion to analyze the current situation of global tourism activity. At the meeting was expressed concern about the effects of the pandemic, especially in the configuration of the “new normal” as an ecosystem for the configuration of the value chain tourism, which highlights the companies, the characteristics of tourism work and the training of employees and students in tourism. UNACH is initiating the process of reviewing the structure and contents of tourism studies. The Mtro. Jorge Trujillo Rincón, Coordinator Academic of the Bachelor of Tourism Management of the Faculty of Accounting and Administration of the UNACH expressed its concern about the challenges posed by the sector in the recovery process post-pandemic and its expression in the design of the appropriate curricular content. The director of the Chair pointed out the need to advance effectively towards the training of the future workers of the sector in green transition actions in the sector to face the challenges posed by climate change and other crises such as Covid that could be repeated in the future.

Aurora Pedro is part of the Scientific Council of the Bachelor of Tourism Management, together with a representative of the UNWTO Academy and UAEM. The Scientific Council was created last month December 2020.
