The director of the Chair of New Green Transition at the University of Valencia, Aurora Pedro, has given her vision of how tourism will be affected by the current pandemic situation. She has done so in the newspaper InfoLibre, which analyzed how the increase in cases threatens the apparent return to normality of tourism.
Pedro has been very clear about her position, stating that the pandemic is comparable to climate change, as we will have to learn to live with it and rethink our way of life: “This pandemic will not be eradicated easily. We have to accept it in order to be realistic. This summer there was enormous optimism, but it is true that, until everyone is vaccinated, and I am referring to the whole planet, the situation will not be under control”. He also denounces the unsustainable trend of “unbridled growth” that affects both tourism and climate change.
In addition to his contribution, we find other very interesting ones, such as that of José Luis Yzuel, president of the Spanish Hotel and Catering Business Confederation, who confirms how reservations are decreasing after a great phase of growth.
