The director of the Interuniversity Chair of the New Green Transition at the University of Valencia, Aurora Pedro, participated last week in Madrid in the General Assembly of the UNWTO (World Tourism Organization, an associated organism of the United Nations), of which the UV is affiliate member; Her Degree in Tourism is certified with TedQual, the seal of quality in education awarded by UNWTO. The meeting re-elected Zurab Pololikashvili as UNWTO Secretary General and provided the ideal setting for various meetings between affiliate members. The UNWTO is the only international organization that has a Committee of this type, where very different agents are represented: from management bodies of tourist destinations to universities, through companies of all kinds related to tourism.
The meetings took place in the capital of Spain from November 30 to December 3, after Morocco suspended the assembly in Marrakech for fear of Covid-19. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Reyes Maroto and the President of the Spanish Government, who supported the UNWTO after the attempt by Saudi Arabia to take it to their country.
